In 1954 she graduated with honors from the medical faculty of the First Moscow Order of Lenin Medical Institute (1st MOLMI), entered an internship in therapy.

She worked as an ophthalmologist at the ophthalmologist at the Bryansk Regional Hospital, then as an ophthalmologist at the Moscow Clinical Hospital No. 36.

She graduated from the clinical residency at the Moscow Eye Clinical Hospital and remained to work there as an ophthalmologist. In 1965 she defended her PhD thesis.

In 1970 she defended her doctoral dissertation. In 1980 she received the title of professor.

From 1970 to 2004, she worked at the Helmholtz Moscow Research Institute of Eye Diseases, where she rose from a senior researcher to the head of the ophthalmo-oncological service and organized in 1976 the country's first scientific and clinical department of ophthalmo-oncology and radiology, which was engaged in the development of modern methods of early diagnosis and treatment severe pathology, and also supervised and coordinated the work of 12 regional centers throughout the country. Since 2003, the city center of ophthalmooncology, headed by A.F. Brovkina, has been located in the structure of the Moscow Eye Clinical Hospital in Mamonovsky lane, 7, which is the scientific, pedagogical and medical base of the RMANPO.

He works as a professor at the Department of Ophthalmology with a course in pediatric ophthalmology and orbital pathology at the Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education.

A. F. Brovkina is the author of more than 420 scientific papers, including 18 books, monographs and textbooks for medical students. Under her leadership, 40 candidate and 11 doctoral dissertations in ophthalmo-oncology and orbital pathology were completed. Author of more than 40 patents for inventions in the field of ophthalmo-oncology.
